WASHINGTON, Apr 6 (PRIME) -- New sanctions against Russia will include a prohibition on new investment, spokeswoman for the presidential administration Jen Psaki said late on Tuesday.

"In coordination with the G7 and the E.U., an additional sweeping package of sanctions measures that will impose costs on Russia to send it further down the road of economic, financial, and technological isolation,” Psaki said.

“This will include a ban on all new investment in Russia, increased sanctions on financial institutions and state-owned enterprises in Russia, and sanctions on Russian government officials and their family members."

Psaki added that the new sanctions would be announced on Wednesday and target the Russian financial institutes and companies.

The U.S. organizations were earlier obliged to close correspondent accounts with the bank and turn down any transactions with its participation in 30 days.
